Maintenance

1.

Cleaning the lens: To clean the lens surface, remove
dust using a soft brush or gauze. For removing finger
prints or grease, use soft cotton, lens tissue, or
gauze lightly moistened with absolute alcohol
(ethanol or methanol). Observe caution in handling
alcohol.

2.

Cleaning of plastic parts: Avoid the use of any
organic solvent (i.e. thinner, ether, alcohol, xylene,
etc.) for cleaning the plastic parts and painted
surface of the instrument.

3.

Never attempt to dismantle the instrument. Contact
Welch Allyn Technical Services if service is needed.

4.

When not in use: Cover the instrument with the dust
cover provided and store the colposcope in a place
free from moisture and fungus.

Halogen Lamp Replacement

1.

Turn ON/OFF switch to “OFF” position and unplug
the unit from the power receptacle.

2.

Open the front cover of the light source (lamp
access cover) by pushing the button and
simultaneously pulling down the lamp access cover.

WARNING: DO NOT attempt to remove the lamp
before allowing it to cool. The lamp operates at a
high temperature. Allow at least five minutes for the
lamp to cool before replacing. Replace with the
Welch Allyn replacement lamp ONLY.

WARNING: Disconnect unit from power source
before removing the Lamp Access Door.

3.

Grasp lamp by the socket and pull straight out of the
light source.

4.

Remove the lamp assembly from the socket.

5.

Replace the lamp with Welch Allyn part number
04050.

NOTE: Completely seat lamp into socket.

6.

Securely replace lamp assembly into light source.

7.

Replace the cover by holding the cover tight against
the light source and slide up.

CAUTION:

Do not allow your fingers to touch the lamp or
reflector. Handle by the outside rim only.
