Reinstalling Software

When reinstall procedure is performed, the contents of the hard disk will be erased. Be sure to back up any critical data that is

on your hard disk before running the reinstall procedure.
The reinstall procedure will return the computer to its original condition.
• if you have created partitions for data, the data may be erased or become corrupt as a result of the reinstall procedure.

Before Reinstallation

Preparing

• BACKUP DISK(s) created in advance page 13)
• Product Recovery CD-ROM (included)

• Panasonic USB floppy disk drive (optional: CF-VFDU03)
• Panasonic CD drive (optional: KXL-RWIOAN <PC Card-compatible> or CF-VDRRTI <USB>)

When using a PC Card-compatible CD drive other than the Panasonic KXL-RWIOAN CD drive:

If you have not created the FIRSTAID FD, you can create by using the following procedure:

[Create Backup Disk] in [Start] - [Programs] - [Panasonic].

If you can not create this disk, contact Panasonic Technical Support.

Important

• Before the reinstallation procedure, remove all peripherals (except for the CD and floppy disk drive).
• Be sure the AC adaptor is connected until the reinstallation procedure is completed.
• When using the Panasonic KXL-RWIOAN CD drive, set the switch of the PC Card to 16-bit.

Reinstalling

Turn off the computer.

Connect the CD drive to the computer.

<OnIy when using the Panasonic CD drive KXL-RW10AN>
Connect the floppy disk drive to the USB port of the com­

puter, then set the FIRSTAID FD in the floppy disk drive.

Turn the computer on, and press

C F2

) while [Panasonic]

screen is displayed.
The Setup Utility will start up.

If the password has been set, enter the Supervisor Pass­

word.

Write down all of the contents of the Setup Utility and then

press

C F9 ).

At the confirmation message, select [Yes] and press

(Enter ).

<Only when using the Panasonic CD drive CF-VDRRTl>

Select [Boot] menu, then select [CD Drive] and press
until [CD Drive] is at the top of the [Boot] menu.

Place the disc number one of the recovery CDs into the CD

drive.

Press

C FI 0 }.

At the confirmation message, select [Yes] and press

( Enter ].

The computer will restart, and this screen should appear.

Select a number

1. Start restoring the operating system.

2. Erase the whole data on HDD for security.
3. End

Select [ I. Start restoring the operating system.

The License Agreement screen should appear.
