8. Pour some of the test material in front of the
applicator, then turn on the machine to begin the
drawdown.
9. As the push bar nears the far end of the plate, a
micro-switch will turn off the motor. Lift off the two
bars and applicator and remove the drawdown
specimen. Material adhering to the applicator
should be wiped off with a rag.
10. A new panel can be placed on the plate, the
bars and applicator returned manually to the
motor end of the plate and process repeated.
11. After making the desired number of
drawdowns, clean the plate, applicator and pan
using an appropriate solvent.
12. Cover the vacuum plate with something
smooth and fl at to protect the surface between
uses. Similarly, the applicator should be stored in
a manner that will protect its bottom surfaces and
applicating edge from being nicked, scratched,
bent, etc.
