Service Tech Information

MANUAL ADVANCE REGENERATION CHECK

This check verifies proper operation of the vaive

motor, brine tank fiii, brine draw, regeneration flow
rates, and other controiier functions. Aiways make

the

initial checks, and the manual initiated diagnos­

tics.

NOTE: The faceplate display must show a steady

time (not flashing). If an error code shows, first

press the SELECT button to enter the diagnostic

display.

1. Press the REGENERATiON button and hoid in for 3

seconds. RECHARGE NOW begins to flash in the
dispiay as the softener enters the fiii cycie of regen­
eration. Remove the brineweii cover and, using a
fiashiight, observe fiii water entering the tank.

2. When FiLL is on steady, remove the brineweii cover

and, using a fiashiight, observe fiii water entering
the tank.

3. if water does not enter the tank, iook for an

obstructed nozzie, venturi, fiii flow piug, brine tub­
ing, or brine vaive riser pipe.

4. After observing fiii, press the REGENERATiON but­

ton to move the softener into brining. A siow flow of
water to the drain wiii begin. Verify brine draw from
the brine tank by shining a fiashiight into the

brineweii and observing a noticeabie drop in the iiq-
uid ievei.

NOTE: Be sure a salt bridge is not preventing
water with salt contact.

5. if the softener does not draw brine:

• nozzie and/or venturi dirty or defective
• nozzie and venturi not seated properiy on gasket
• restricted drain (check drain fitting and hose)
• defective nozzie and venturi seai
• other inner vaive defect (rotor seai, rotor & disc,

wave washer, etc.)

NOTE: If water system pressure is low, an elevated
drain hose may cause back pressure, stopping
brine draw.

6. Again press REGENERATiON to move the softener

into backwash. Look for a fast flow of water from the

drain hose.

7. An obstructed flow indicates a piugged top distributor,

backwash flow piug or drain hose.

8. Press REGENERATiON to move the softener into fast

rinse. Again iook for a fast drain flow. Aiiow the soften­
er to rinse for a few minutes to flush out any brine that
may remain in the resin tank from the brining cycie

test.

9. To return the softener to service, press REGENERA­

TiON once more.
