Custom Fields

Paperless lets you add an unlimited amount of custom fields to your libraries, to
help you better organize your documents. Examples of custom fields include
Role, URL, and Address fields.

To add a custom field in the Library Configuration window:

Click the Plus (+) button at the bottom left of the Custom Fields tab to

open the Add Custom Field dialog box.

Enter a Name for your Custom Field.

Select a Type from the drop down menu provided (e.g. Text Field). The

Type you choose will control how your custom field is displayed in the main
window. (e.g. the Date Field will display with a date picker.)

Click OK to save your entry and return to the Custom Fields tab.

To edit an existing Custom Field, select it from the list and click the Editor
button at the lower left of the window. The Add Custom Field dialog box will
open, allowing you to edit the Name and Type fields as shown above.

To delete a Custom Field, select it and click the Minus (-) button at the lower left
of the window.

Tip:
A custom field will not automatically
appear in your libraryʼs main window! To
enable it to show in the view pane, you
will need to add it to your “Fields to
Show” in the Data Types tab. See Data
Types, p. 59.
