ELECTRICAL POWER INSTALLATION

Electrical power may be applied by simply plugging the system transformer into a
nearby electrical outlet. If the system’s environment has a history of, or has known
electrical power line disturbances, then use of a transient protection module, available
as an option from MICROTEL, is highly recommended.

If the unit is to be installed in a location where large or high voltage motors are in use, a
power line transient suppresser is also recommended to insure that the unit is not
affected by surges and spikes in the 120 VAC power to the unit.

It is recommended that a separate circuit breaker be used with the system. Remember
that when the breaker is on, and the unit is plugged in, 12 VAC is contained within the
system even though the system Power switch may be turned off. This is to allow
continued charging of the system’s backup battery, and retention of the system’s
message data, even with the system in a powered down state.

The internal system fuse is a 1 amp fuse (AGC 1), or equivalent. WHEN INSPECTING
OR REPLACING THE FUSE, UNPLUG THE SYSTEM OR THROW THE CIRCUIT
BREAKER SUPPLYING POWER TO THE UNIT.
