SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
TO REPLACE AUGER SHEAR BOLT
The augers are secured to the auger shaft with special
bolts (See Rg. 34) that are designed to break (to protect
the machine) H an object becomes lodged in the auger
housing. Use of a harder bolt wiii destroy the protection
provided by the shear bolt.
IMPORTANT: TO INSURE SAFEW AND
PERFORMANCE LEVELS. ONLY
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT SHEAR
BOLTS SHOULD BE USED. WHEN
REPLACING SHEAR BOLTS, BE SURE
TO REPLACE SHEAR BOLT
SPACERS.
To replace a broken shear bolt, proceed as follows;
•
Move the throttle to STOP and turn off all controls.
•
Disconnect the spark plug wire. Be sure all moving
parts have stopped.
•
Lubricate the auger shaft zerk fitting (see the Main
tenance section, pages 15-16).
•
Align the hole in the auger with the hole in the auger
shaft. Install the new shear bolt and shear bolt
spacer provided.
•
Reconnect the spark plug wire.
TO ADJUST TRACK
If the snowthrowerdoes not moveforward evenly and the
trad< slips slightly, you need to check the track, as
follows:
•
Measure the distance between the top of the side
plate and the inside of the track. The distance
should not be more than two (2) inches.
If the distance is greater, you need to adjust the track, as
follows:
•
Loosen the bolls (A) (See Fig. 35) on both sides of
the track assembly,
•
Turn the cam washers equally on both sides.
•
Adjust the track to reduce slack, so that the distance
between the top of the side plate and the inside of
the track is not greater than two (2) inches. Be sure
the cam washers are adjusted evenly or the track
will be twisted (See Fig. 36). If the track becomes
twisted, readjust the cam washers to the correct ad
justment.
