Before You Call for Service

Sove time and money. Check this list of causes of minor operating
problems you con correct yourself

Refrigerator does not operate

* May be in defrost cycle when motor does not operofe for about 35
minutes.

* Temperolure control in OFF position

* If interior light is not or\, refrigerator moy not be plugged in at woll

outlet.

* If plug is secure and refrigerator fails to operate, plug lamp or smoll

appiionce into some outlet to determine if mere is tripped circuit

breokeror burned out fuse.

Motor operates for long periods

* Modern refrigerators with more storage spoce and о larger freezer

comportment require more operating time.

* Normal when refrigerotor is first delivered to your home—usuolly
requires 24 hours to completely cool down,

»targe amounts of food placed in refrigerator to be cooled or frozen

»Hot weather—frequef?! door openings.

*0oor left open

® Temperature controls ore set loo cold. Refer to page 4,

»Condenser needs cleaning. Refer to роде 10.

Motor starts St stops frequently

» Temperature control starts ond stops motor to maintain even
temperatures. This is normal

Vibration or rattling

«If refrigerator vibrates, more than likely it is not resting solidly on the
floor. The front roller screws need adjusting, or floor is weak or uneven.
Refer to page 3,

»If dishes vibrate on shelves, try moving them. Slight vibration is
nor mol.

Operating sounds

* The high speed compressor motor required to maintoin near zero
temperclures in the large freezer compartment may produce higher
sound levels than your old refrigerator,

*

Norma! fan air flow—one fon blows cold oir through the refrigerator

and freezer compartments—another Ion cools the compressor motor.

* These NORMAL sounds will also be heard from time to time:

-Defrost timer switch clicks ct defrost.

-Defrost water dripping

-Temperature control dicks ON or OFF

-Refrigerant boiling or gurgling

-Cracking or poppirtg of cooling coils coused by expansion and
Contraction during defrost ond refrigeration following defrost.

-Ice cubes dropping into the bin and water running in pipes os

icemaker refills.

Hot air from boitom of refrigerator

* Normal oir flow cooling motor. In the refrigeration process, it is
normal that heat be expelled in the oreo under the refrigerator. Some
floor coverings will discolor at these normal and safe operatinp
temperatures. Your floor covering supplier should be consulted if you
object to this discoloration.

Foods dry out

* Foods not covered, wrapped or sealed properly.

Fresh food or freezer compartment temperature too warm

* Temperature control not set cold enough Refer to page 4

® Worm weather—frequent door openings,

«Door left open for long time.

* Package may be holding door open or blocking oir duct In freezer
compartment.

Frost or ice crystals on frozen food

«Door may have been left ojar or package holding door open.

» Too frequent or too long door openings.

* Frost within package is normal.

Slow ice cube freezing

* Door may hove been left ajar,

«Turn temperoture of freezer compartment colder

lee cubes have odor/taste

»Old cubes need to be discorded. Empty ice bin every 30 days,

e Ice storage bin needs to be washed.

«Unsealed packoges in refrigerator and/or freezer compartments may
be tronsmitting odor/taste to ice cubes

»Interior of refrigerator needs cleaning. Refer to page 10

Automatic icemaker does not work

* Icemaker feeler orm in OFF (up) position.

® Woter supply turned off or not connected

«Freezer comportment too worm

® Cubes too small—wafer shutoff valve connecting refrigerator to home
wafer line may be clogged.

® Sometimes cubes fuse to the side of the ice mold and hold the feeler
orm in the OFF {up) position. Remove this ice to restort the icemaker,

® Piled up cubes in storage bin may cause icemaker to shut off
prematurely. With icemoKer feeler arm in OFF (up) position, level
cubes in bin by hand,

® When reaching for cubes by bond, you may hove pushed the feeler
orm into the OFF (up) position by mistake.

Moisture forms on outside of refrigerator

® Not unusual during periods of high humidity,

® Move Power Saver Switch to the left (see page 4).

Moisture coliects inside

® Too frequent or too long door openings.

® In humid weather, air carries moisture into refrigerator when doors

are opened

Refrigerator hos odor

* Food with strong odors should be tightly covered.

® Check for spoiled food,

® Inferior needs cleaning. Refer to page 10.

® Keep open box of boking sodo in refrigerator: replace every three
months.

Inferior light does not work

®No power at outlet.

* Light bulb needs replacing. See роде 11
