This User's Guide describes the steps required to install the DE300i-SWC160 removable

enclosure inside a computer peripheral bay or external expansion chassis. This guide

supplements documentation provided with the host computer system, operating system, and

the drive to be installed within the DE300i-SWC160 carrier.

General Description

The StorCase Technology Data Express

®

DE300i-SWC160 is composed of a receiving frame

which supports SCSI Ultra160 interfaces and fits within 5.25" full-height peripheral slots. This

16-bit I/O can support up to 160MByte/sec transfer rates. The receiving frame contains three

(3) removable drive carriers designed to provide durable and reliable mounting for 3.5" form

factor, low profile 1" high 80-pin Single-Connect Attachment (SCA) SCSI drives (Figure 2).

The DE300i-SWC160 allows a drive to be removed and transported to another DE300i-

SWC160-equipped computer or expansion chassis, and also provides the ability to secure

sensitive data by removing and storing the drive safely for future use. The DE300i-SWC160

is particularly well suited for RAID configurations, combining wide receiving frame I/O

connectors with three (3) removable single-connect (SCA) drive carriers.

NOTES:

DE300i-SWC160 requires Ultra160 chassis and cabling.

DE300i-SWC160 supports implementations with a maximum of 13 devices

(with an available 13-device internal cable). Contact StorCase for further

information.
