Step 10: Load the Smart Cartridges
Before installing and using a Smart Cartridge, inspect the blast doors for cracks. The
inspection should include checking the break seam running down the center and both sides
of the front of the blast door. If the blast doors are cracked, remove the Smart Cartridge from
service. Also, inspect the ARC deflector metalized labels. Over time, the labels may show
signs of wear. This is normal. If the labels have worn away completely or fallen off, remove
the Smart Cartridge from service.
Use the left hand to load cartridges beginning with the rightmost bay. By loading from right
to left (or left to right if the right hand is used) it is less likely the operator will place fingers in
front of the blast doors of loaded cartridges.
