External 3rd-party control devices, such as those manufactured by Crestron, AMX, Extron, and
FSR, can control the EX200 using the RS232 interface. A computer running a terminal emula on
program can also control an EX200 using this interface. When connec ng an RS232 cable from
a computer to the EX200, use a straight through cable. When connec ng an external 3rd party
control device, the requirement is o en to use a null-modem cable.

Most source devices send an electronic inquiry to the display asking for informa on about it’s
capabili es. The display sends a table of informa on called the Extended Display Iden fi ca on
Data (EDID). Using this informa on, the source device changes it’s resolu on to match the
na ve resolu on of the display or some other resolu on that is supported by both source and
display.

The EX200 intercepts the display’s response to the EDID table request and sends its own EDID
informa on to “trick” the source into sending it’s content in a par cular resolu on and/or
audio format. This method allows us to change the resolu on of the source device without
reprocessing the video image and degrading the quality of the na ve image.

The EDID Resolu on Select dip switches can be changed using a standard fl at-blade screw
driver or fi ngernail. Each loca on (1-4) can either be ON or OFF. Look at the following table to
determine the proper EDID se ng for your specifi c applica on.
