SERVICING YOUR GENERATOR

MAIN AND OUTER FILTER CLEANING

A dirty main and outer filters will restrict air flow to the carburetor,
reducing engine performance. If you operate the generator in very
dusty areas, clean the main and outer filters more frequently than
specified in the Maintenance Schedule.

Wash the main and outer filters in a solution of household detergent
and warm water, then rinse thoroughly, or wash in non-flammable
or high flash point solvent. Allow the air filters to dry thoroughly.

Soak the main and outer filters in clean engine oil and squeeze out
the excess oil. The engine will smoke during initial startup if too
much oil is left in the air filters.

Wipe dirt from the air cleaner housing and cover using a moist rag.
Be careful to prevent dirt from entering the air duct that leads to the
carburetor.
