Using the Data Protector Oracle integration, you can restore the following:
• The whole database or parts of it
• The database to a specific point in time
• From incremental backup
• To a host other than the one where the database originally resided

• From a chain of incremental backups
Duplicating a database
Using the Data Protector Oracle integration, you can perform duplication of a
production database.
Integration concepts
The Data Protector Oracle integration links the Oracle database management software
with Data Protector. From the Oracle point of view, Data Protector represents a media
management software. On the other hand, the Oracle database management system
can be seen as a data source for backup, using media controlled by Data Protector.
Components
The software components involved in backup and restore processes are:
• The Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN)
• The Data Protector Oracle integration software
Integration functionality overview
