Taking Pictures in AUTO Mode
This section describes how to take pictures in C mode. C mode is automatically selected the fi rst
time the camera is turned on; for information on restoring C mode after shooting in other modes,
see page 25.
1 Turn the camera on.
Press the F button to turn the camera
on.
2 Check the battery level.
Check the battery level in the monitor.

Indicator Indicator Description Description
q (red) Batteries are low. Replace as soon
as possible.
w (blinks red) Batteries are exhausted. Turn cam-
era off and replace batteries.

A battery warning may not be displayed before the camera turns off , particularly if batteries are reused after
having once been exhausted. Power consumption varies greatly from mode to mode; the low battery warning
(
O) may not be displayed or may be displayed only briefl y before the camera turns off in some modes or when
switching from shooting to playback mode.
