Troubleshooting

SYMPTOM

CAUSE

SOLUTION

No power.

• Power cord disconnected.

• Plug power cord securely into wall

outlet.

No picture.

• TV not set to receive DVD

Recorder+VCR signal output.

• Video cable not connected securely.

• TV power turned off.

• Select appropriate video input on TV

so picture from DVD Recorder+VCR

appears on TV screen.

• Connect video cable securely.

• Turn on TV.

No sound.

• Equipment connected with audio cable

not set to receive DVD Recorder+VCR

signal output.

• Audio cables not securely connected.

• Power on equipment connected with

audio cable turned off.

• Audio cables damaged.

• Select correct input mode on audio

receiver to hear sound from DVD

Recorder+VCR.

• Connect audio cables securely.

• Turn on equipment connected with

audio cable.

• Replace with new ones.

Poor playback picture.

• Disc is dirty.

• Tape heads are dirty.

• Tape is a rental or was recorded on

another VCR.

• Clean disc.

• Clean video heads.

• Use

TRACKING+/- for manual

adjustment while tape is playing.

Playback does not

start.

• No disc inserted.

• No tape inserted.

• Unplayable disc inserted.

• Disc placed upside down.

• Disc not placed within guide.

• Disc is dirty.

• Parental Control level set.

• Insert disc or tape (check that disc

indicator on front panel display is lit.)

• Insert playable disc (check disc type,

color system, and regional code.)

• Place disc with playback side down.

• Place disc on disc tray correctly inside

the guide.

• Clean disc.

• Cancel Parental Control function or

change rating level.

Picture from external

input distorted.

• Video signal from external component

is copy-protected.

• Cannot connect component via

the DVD Recorder+VCR. Connect

component directly to your TV.

Some channels

skipped when using

CH



• Skipped channels were deleted with

Add/Remove Channels feature.

• Use Add/Remove Channels to restore

channels; see page 31.

Picture/sound from

broadcasting channel

weak or missing.

• Antenna or cables are loose.

• Wrong signal type selected in DVD

Recorder+VCR Setup menu.

• Tighten connections or replace cable.

• Try all signal type options (TV/CATV);

see page 30.

Camcorder image not

shown.

• Camcorder is off.

• Turn camcorder on and operate

properly.

via A/V input to DVD

Recorder+VCR not

shown on TV screen.

• DVD Recorder+VCR’s source not set

to LINE1/LINE2.

• Press INPUT to select AV input

channel (LINE1/LINE2).
