LAN-free
operations
For
LAN-free
operations,
Tivoli
Storage
Manager
previously
required
an
operation
such
as
MOVE
DATA
or
LAN-based
backup
to
write
data
to
the
tape
so
that
it
could
be
used
from
open
systems.
You
can
continue
to
use
this
method.
However,
with
this
release,
you
can
configure
Tivoli
Storage
Manager
server
to
quickly
and
easily
format
LAN-free-capable
volumes
dynamically
when
they
are
requested
by
the
storage
agent.
