System

Requirements

To

use

LAN-free

data

movement,

configure

the

following

components

at

the

latest

available

software

levels.

Your

SAN

configuration

must

meet

the

applicable

hardware

and

software

requirements

(see

TCP/IP

is

required

for

communication

among

the

Tivoli

Storage

Manager

server,

the

client,

and

the

storage

agent.

v

An

IBM

Tivoli

Storage

Manager

server

that

has

a

license

for

LAN-free

operations

(Version

5.4

or

later).

To

ensure

compatibility

between

the

server

and

the

storage

agent,

check

the

Tivoli

Web

for

maintenance

level

requirements

and

download

the

latest

Fix

Pack

Level.

The

Tivoli

Storage

Manager

servers

for

the

z/OS,

OS/390,

AIX,

HP-UX,

Linux,

Sun

Solaris,

and

Windows

operating

systems

support

LAN-free

data

movement.

Note

that

the

Tivoli

Storage

Manager

server

supports

storage

agents

at

the

same

version,

release,

and

modification

level,

plus

up

to

two

modification

levels

earlier.

Suppose

in

the

future

IBM

released

Version

5.4.3

of

the

Tivoli

Storage

Manager

server.

It

would

support

storage

agents

at

the

Version

5.4.3,

Version

5.4.2,

and

Version

5.4.1

levels.

Note

that

this

Tivoli

Storage

Manager

Version

5.4.3

server

example

is

an

example

only

and

is

neither

a

promise

nor

guarantee

that

such

a

version

will

be

released.

This

compatibility

is

subject

to

change

at

IBM’s

discretion.

will

access

volumes

from

a

storage

pool

that

utilizes

3592

generation

2

drive

encryption,

both

the

storage

agent

and

its

server

must

be

at

a

level

that

supports

drive

encryption

(Version

5.3.4.0

or

higher).

client

or

a

data

protection

application

client.

Client

software

must

be

installed

on

a

client

system

library

sharing

support

requires

that

the

storage

agent

be

at

the

5.4

level.

higher.

backup

restore

disk

in

conjunction

with

your

licensed

use
