MAINTENANCE

Regular periodic maintenance on your Model
W1683 20" Planer will ensure its optimum
performance. Make a habit of inspecting your
planer each time you use it.

Check for the following conditions and repair
or replace when necessary:

Loose mounting bolts.

Worn switch.

Worn or damaged cords and plugs.

Damaged V-belt.

Any other condition that could hamper the
safe operation of this machine.

General

Cleaning

Frequently blow-off dust with compressed air.
This is especially important for the internal
working parts and motor. Dust build-up around
the motor is a sure way to decrease its life span.

Occasionally it will become necessary to clean
the internal parts with more than compressed
air. To do this, remove the covers and clean the
internal parts with a citrus cleaner or mineral
spirits and a stiff wire brush or steel wool. DO
NOT USE WATER—WATER WILL RUST CAST IRON.
Make sure the internal workings are dry before
using the planer again. If any essential
lubrication is removed during cleaning,
relubricate those areas.

Disconnect power to the
machine when performing
any maintenance or
repairs. Failure to do this
may result in serious
personal injury.

Inspect your planer for

loose nuts and bolts. Make

sure that all tools are

cleared away from the

machine.

Table And Base

The table can be kept rust-free with regular
applications of products like Boeshield

®

T-9. For

long term storage, you may want to consider
products like Kleen Bore's Rust Guardit™.
