Warning indicators and messages
If indicators and messages appear in the viewfinder or on the display window, check the
following:

Warning indicators
The battery is dead or
nearly dead
Slow flashing:
•The battery is nearly dead.
Depending on conditions,
the environment or the
battery pack, the warning
indicator may flash, even if
there are 5 to 10 minutes
battery remaining.
Fast flashing:
•The battery is dead (p. 12).
•The battery is completely
dead, and cannot be
recharged.
Warning indicator as to tape
Slow flashing:
•The tape is near the end.
•No tape is inserted.*
•The write-protect tab on the
cassette is out (red) (p. 19).*
Fast flashing:
•The tape has run out.*
The video heads are dirty
Slow flashing:
•You need to clean the heads using the Sony V8-25CLD
cleaning cassette (optional) (p. 61).
Self-diagnosis display (p. 55)
Moisture condensation has
occurred*
Fast flashing:
•Eject the cassette, turn off
your camcorder, and leave it
for about 1 hour with the
cassette compartment open
(p. 60).
You need to eject the
cassette
Slow flashing:
•The write-protect tab on the
cassette is out (red) (p. 19).*
Fast flashing:
•Moisture condensation has
occurred (p. 60).
•The tape has run out.*
•The self-diagnosis display
function is activated (p. 55).*
Warning messages
•CLOCK SET Set the date and time (p. 17).
•For “InfoLITHIUM” Use an “InfoLITHIUM” battery pack (p. 58).
BATTERY ONLY
• CLEANING CASSETTE The video heads are dirty (p. 61).
•START/STOP KEY Press the START/STOP button to activate the ORC
setting. This message is displayed in white (p. 49).
•ORC The ORC setting is working. This message is
displayed in white (p. 49).
•Q NO TAPE Insert a cassette tape.*
•Q TAPE END The tape has reached the end of the tape.*
* You hear the melody or beep sound.
