The Default Setting of the NB5 does not provided access from the Internet to any services hosted on
the LAN. In other words, by default the firewall function is fully enabled and the only incoming
packets allowed are those elicited by a request from a LAN client.

The NB5 Access Control function allows selective access to services through the Firewall,
categorised by service type (Web, FTP, Telnet, etc) and optionally filtered by IP address. So, for
example, you are able to provide Telnet access to your LAN to anonymous users, or for a particular
IP address, or for a list of IP addresses.

The DMZ configuration directs all anonymous internet traffic to an IP address which you can
allocate to a computer dedicated to that purpose, thereby providing another controlled method of
providing access through the firewall.

Finally, IP filtering provides a fine-grained method for controlling the flow of data to and from the
Internet and also between LAN clients.
