WARNING

Hazardous Service Procedures!

The maintenance and troubleshooting procedures recommended in this section of the manual
could result in exposure to electrical, mechanical or other potential safety hazards. Always refer
to the safety warnings provided throughout this manual concerning these procedures. When
possible, disconnect all electrical power including remote disconnect and discharge all energy
storing devices such as capacitors before servicing. Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to
ensure the power can not be inadvertently energized. When necessary to work with live electrical
components, have a qualified licensed electrician or other individual who has been trained in
handling live electrical components perform these tasks. Failure to follow all of the
recommended safety warnings provided, could result in death or serious injury.

Periodic Service

Note: The heater and vent system should be checked once a year by a qualified

technician.

All Maintenance/Service information should be recorded accordingly on the Inspection
Sheet provided in this manual.

ƽ

WARNING

Combustible Materials!

Maintain proper clearance between the unit heat exchanger, vent surfaces and combustible
materials. Refer to unit nameplate and installation instructions for proper clearances. Improper
clearances could result in a fire hazard. Failure to maintain proper clearances could result in
death or serious injury or property damage.

ƽ

WARNING

Hazardous Voltage and Gas!

Turn off the gas supply and disconnect all electric power, including remote disconnects before
servicing unit. Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the power can not be
inadvertently energized. Failure to turn off gas or disconnect power before servicing could result
in death or serious injury.

Note:

IMPORTANT!

Gas tightness of the safety shut-off valves must be checked on

at least an annual basis.

To check gas tightness of the safety shut-off valves, turn off the manual valve upstream
of the appliance combination control. Remove the 1/8 inch pipe plug on the inlet side of
the combination control and connect a manometer to that tapping. Turn the manual
valve on to apply pressure to the combination control. Note the pressure reading on the
manometer, then turn the valve off. A loss of pressure indicates a leak. If a leak is
detected, use a soap solution to check all threaded connections. If no leak is found,
combination control is faulty and must be replaced before putting appliance back in
service.

Should maintenance be required, perform the following inspection and service routine:

1.

Inspect the area near the unit to be sure that there is no combustible material
located within the minimum clearance requirements listed in this manual.

2.

Turn off the manual gas valve and electrical power to the gas unit heater.
