Vidikron Vision30/50 Ceiling Mt. Kit Installation Instructions

rev. 10-07-05

Step 3: Install Ceiling Bracket

Due to the wide variety of possible mounting situations, Vidikron can only provide general installation guidelines. Review
the following information carefully and adapt it as appropriate to your specific situation.
NOTE: You will need additional hardware -- not included in this kit -- to complete the installation. Your requirements will depend on the
method of installation, as described below.

Be sure the method of support you are using for the ceiling mount is securely installed to the ceiling. If not, the ceiling must be
reinforced. Improper installation may result in serious personal injury.

Instructions follow for three of the more common methods of ceiling-mounting a projector:

Attaching it directly to a wood framing member.

Suspending it from a 1-1/2-inch diameter extension column.

Suspending it from four, 1/4-inch diameter threaded rods secured to an overhead structural member (truss or I-beam).

Standard Fasteners Secured to a Wood Framing Member
You can secure the Ceiling Bracket (item #1) to a wood framing member through slotted holes on the bracket. Use four, 1/4-
inch diameter lag screws or -- if the area is accessible from above -- four, 1/4-inch diameter machine bolts, nuts and washers.
Ensure that the bracket is parallel to the screen before tightening the bolts.

Suspended From an Extension Column
Secure the extension column to the ceiling according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Use a suitable adapter and
hardware to attach the Ceiling Bracket to the extension column. The round cut-out on the Ceiling Bracket is 1.92 inches in
diameter and will accommodate a standard, 1-1/2 inch diameter extension column.

Suspended From Threaded Rods
You can secure the Ceiling Bracket to a typical unistrut, angle or channel assembly at the overhead structural members
(trusses or I-beams) using four, 1/4-inch diameter threaded rods, as follows:
1. Secure one end of each threaded rod to the structural member.
2. Install a 1/4-20 jam nut on each threaded rod.
3. Pass the threaded rod ends through the outermost holes on the Ceiling Bracket (near the front and back edges).
4. Secure the Ceiling Bracket to the threaded rods using four, 1/4-20 nuts.

Step 4: Mount the Projector

1. With the help of your assistant(s), lift the projector up and line up the two metal studs on the projector mounting

plate with the J-shaped cut-outs on the back of the mounting bracket (see diagram of your projector on page 2).

2. Lift the projector up, then forward slightly so that the metal studs fit into the curved surface at the front of the cutout.
3. Adjust the projector pitch (vertical elevation), as desired.
4. Use a 3/16-inch hex wrench, the supplied socket head cap screws (item #6), lock washers (item #5) and flat washers

(item #4) to secure the projector to the Ceiling Bracket.
