Create a New Volume on an External Drive

To create a volume on an external drive, first claim the drive. Follow the steps under “Claim a
Drive” on page 48.

Create a Base Volume

1. Click Create a New Volume.

Note: If the “not enough drive space” message displays, follow the steps under “Resize a
Volume” on page 46.

2. Type in a new volume name in the New Volume Name field. The new volume is

automatically assigned the remaining space on the drive (click Manual Configuration
then Use next to the external drive name to assign only a portion of the remaining drive
space). Click Create Volume.

3. Click OK, then click Continue to Drive Management when complete. The updated

volume status displays.

CAUTION: Do not perform any browser operations or power off the NetCenter during
the volume creation process.
