1. INTRODUCTION
This USB Interface Kit P/N 71208792 provides a solution to connect an Adventurer Pro
balance to a computer via a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port. This interface kit uses a
USB-serial conversion class that allows the use of a USB port like an RS232 serial
port, also known as a Virtual COM port. Please read this manual completely before
installation and operation.

2. INSTALLATION OF HARDWARE
Install the hardware first before the USB driver software contained in the kit program
CD.
2.1 Safety Precautions
• Disconnect the balance from the mains power supply and remove any installed
batteries before beginning installation.
• Internal components, such as the load cell and printed circuit boards (PCB), are
delicate and need to be handled with care.
• Do not subject the internal components to static electricity discharge.
• The PCB’s should be handled by grasping the edges only and never placing
fingers on any of the runs or traces.
2.2 Hardware Installation
The Adventurer Pro series comes in different configurations (see Figures 1A-B-C).
Disassemble/assemble the balance according to the configuration that matches your
model.
