Step 4:

Between the strut tower bar and strut tower bar bracket, install small (chassis side) Stiffy ™ ETD bracket and reinstall factory
nuts. Torque nuts to no greater than 15 ft-lbs of torque (See Figure 4).

Step 5:

Check clearances between the factory coolant overflow catch tank and the engine side Stiffy ™ ETD bracket. Position bracket
so that it doesn’t make contact with the overflow catch tank and torque three nuts/bolts to Mitsubishi recommended
specifications (See Figure 2).

Step 6:

Hold the Stiffy ™ up to the two brackets and check for proper alignment of both heim joints (rod ends) with the corresponding
holes in both the chassis and engine brackets you just installed. You may need to adjust the length of the damper by
loosening the locking jam nut (17mm) on the adjustment end (refer to diagram on separate piece of paper or by checking our
website

www.ingallseng.com

).

Step 7:

Once you’ve verified that the unit is the proper length, install using supplied hardware. The adjustable end of the Stiffy ™
damper is mounted to the chassis bracket near the strut tower bar. The hardware should be oriented on both sides as follows
(Bolt > Bracket > O-Ring > Stiffy™ > Washer > Nut). Attach Stiffy ™ to engine bracket using the same method. Torque
supplied hardware to no more than 30 ft-lbs (See Figures 3 & 4).

Step 8:

Reinstall factory coolant overflow catch tank.

Notes:

Proper use and fitment of the rubber O-ring helps dampen additional road noise or “feel” that can be transferred through the damper
assembly. The O-ring should be used between the Stiffy ™ heim joint and bracket for optimal noise suppression. Dynamat or other
damping materials, as used in aftermarket audio and in-car electronics industries, can also be used to provide further noise and
vibration damping when used between the brackets and the surface they mount on.
DO NOT attempt to adjust Stiffy ™ from its pre-set stiffness without consulting the Ingalls website. Large open-end wrenches are
required to adjust stiffness (27mm). Most standard and mechanics tool kits do not include these types of wrenches.
