Step 3b:

Install Stiffy ™ engine bracket using factory M8 long bolt, supplied M8 long bolt, and supplied M12 long bolt, torque M8
bolts to 15 ft/lbs and torque M12 bolt to 60 ft/lbs. There is a spacer that goes between the bracket and the engine on the
upper M8 bolt location
(black arrow in diagram); install spacer between engine and bracket before tightening. On some cars it
may be necessary to move the clip on the hose clamp for the upper radiator hose, but just rotating it down will improve clearance
and fitment of the bracket in the car. Reinstall engine cover using factory hardware (diagram for step 2). Diagram shows
location of 3 factory engine bolts and two M10 bolts/nuts supplied with the kit.

Step 4:

Install chassis bracket on strut tower assembly using factory hardware
and provided washers. Lay chassis bracket over the two outer most bolt
locations on the passenger side, place a large washer (supplied) over the
remaining 6 holes for the strut tower bar mounts
(see notes for aftermarket
spacers). Place strut tower bar over Stiffy ™ bracket and supplied
washers and install using factory hardware (M10 bolts).
The bracket may
be close to a wire loom that crosses over the strut tower on the passenger
side, but the bracket will fit in the limited amount of space available. Diagram
shows two bolts on passenger side where the bracket should be
mounted.

Step 5:

Align Stiffy ™ with the two holes in both the engine bracket and chassis bracket. To adjust length use a 15mm box wrench
and loosen the heim joint locking jam nut on the adjustable end of the Stiffy ™ or the end that is mounted to the chassis
bracket. Once the length of the Stiffy ™ is correct for the vehicle you can install the Stiffy ™ to the two brackets.
Both heim
joint mounts require the same mounting hardware and description of hardware orientation. Mount the engine heim joint to the
engine bracket using the supplied M10 hardware (the order of installation goes Bolt > Heim Joint > O-ring > Bracket >
Washer > Locknut). The Stiffy ™ chassis heim joint will mount directly to the chassis bracket in the same fashion.
To adjust
preload you will need to remove the Stiffy ™ in reverse order of these instructions.

Notes:

Proper use and fitment of the rubber O-ring helps dampen additional road noise or “feel” that can be transferred through the damper assembly. The O-ring should
be used between the Stiffy ™ heim joint and bracket for optimal noise suppression. Dynamat or other damping materials, as used in aftermarket audio and in-car
electronics industries, can also be used to provide further noise and vibration damping when used between the brackets and the surface they mount on.
DO NOT attempt to adjust Stiffy ™ from its pre-set stiffness without consulting the Ingalls website. Large open-end wrenches are required to adjust stiffness
(27mm). Most standard and mechanics tool kits do not include these types of wrenches.
If using additional strut tower spacers with an intake manifold spacer, make sure to space all hardware equally. Aftermarket spacers may be thicker than supplied
washers, in this case add fender washers to Stiffy ™ chassis bracket to reduce the chance of damage to strut tower bar mounting bracket.
