The above example of a System Log file format is described below. After the first three initial header lines, all other lines are event lines
or blank lines. Some superfluous event lines have been removed for simplicity and replaced by a line of colons (: : :)

• The leftmost column of an event line is a time stamp. It show relative time (in seconds) that was accumulated since the file

was opened – when that event line was written. Actual time can be determined by adding this to the real-time data and time
stamp in the header.

• The second column is a delta time (in seconds) which is the elapsed time since the previous event was written to the file.

(value is meaningless for the 1

st

event line).

• The third column is a variable-length text descriptor string describing that particular diagnostic event. In cases where it is

very long, it may be shown folded onto a second or third line (without a preceding time stamp).

A blank line indicates the passage of time – and precedes any event line whose delta time is longer than 0.1 second since the previous
event line was written. In other words, any blank line indicates that at least 0.1 second (or longer) has passed without an event being
written to the file.

These event lines will be most beneficial to YSI Technical Support if you are experiencing a problem with Data Scout Advanced. You
may be asked by Technical Support to enable this setting in order to record any failure or problem you are experiencing. However,
some failures such as Visual Basic Run-Time Errors may not be detected by Data Scout Advanced. In such cases, you may need to tell
the YSI Technical Support Representative what key stroke you last entered at the time of the failure.

3.5.3 CONFIGURING TRANSDUCERS/ROWS OF THE SITE NET MAP

The second section of the Configure submenu (and the top section of a highlighted transducer’s Site Net Map context menu) contains
“editing” functions that operate directly on the rows (individual transducers) of the Site Net Map. Most of these functions will open
an additional window to gather needed information or to confirm execution.
