3.5.4 CONFIGURING OTHER OPTIONS OF THE HIGHLIGHTED TRANSDUCER

The bottom section of the Configure submenu has two transducer network maintenance items.

The first function called Configure | Who Are You? (Only Xdcr) will request that the only transducer on the network report its
unknown address. This is accomplished by transmitting a special broadcast command (i.e., one without a specific address). The
function is meaningless if more than one transducer is currently physically attached to the network since all transducers will respond to
the broadcast command simultaneously. The function is provided only to allow the user to identify a transducer whose address is
really unknown (assuming the baud rate is known).

The best way to avoid having to use this function is to reserve the default factory-set address of any transducer (0), and to only allow
non-default addresses to remain on the network. That way, when receiving a new factory transducer, the user can add it to the
network with its default (but unduplicated) address. Other methods for configuring networks from scratch are described in Section
2.3.

Change an address to any non-default (unduplicated) address, using the second function called Configure | Change Address (HiLi
Xdcr)
which opens a new window (figure 3.13). Only the Address text box is available for entering data and a new check box option
(normally unchecked) is displayed. Click the check box option only if using it when there is only one transducer physically connected
to the serial port.
