All items will take the user to the Run window which provides a data acquisition and recording function of Data Scout Advanced as a
single-cycle (on demand), periodic, or continuous data acquisition from all (or selected) transducers on the Site Net Map. The
window has many transducer configuration functions that read (and optionally set) various options inside individual transducers
currently defined on the map. Normally, modifications are limited to the currently selected transducer but may be “broadcast” to all
the transducers assigned to the Run function.

The first two sub-menu items are identical if there is only one transducer defined on the Site Net Map. However, if there are multiple
transducers defined and working (i.e., their Query functions have successfully filled in the necessary additional information columns
for their rows), the functions act differently. The first item will assign all working transducers on the map to the Run function and
start it. The second item will assign one or more highlighted transducer(s) to the Run function and start it. The bottom menu item is
used only in an emergency when one or more transducers does not respond to Query and the user needs to enter the Run window to
access certain transducer functions on the Run window’s Configure menu. See Chapter 4 for more information.

Once the appropriate selection is made, a separate Run window will open. This window initially starts with its own menu bar and
control buttons disabled, and with a STANDBY: message prominently displayed on its status bar. During this short period, the
function is reading certain necessary information from all the transducers selected for it. Various status windows may appear
indicating this. Once that information is obtained, its menu bar and control buttons will be enabled and many functions of the main
Data Scout Advanced window become disabled. This is to prevent transducer network changes while live transducers are operating via
the Run function. For pictorial examples and more information on using the Run function, see Chapter 4.

Also selectable from the separate File menu of the Run window is the Playback function which is actually a separate application
(DSPlay.exe). This function can read and display (as a text “spreadsheet” or graphic “plots”) any data file created by the Data Scout
Advanced Run window. This includes .txt or .csv ‘Record’ data files acquired “live” from any transducer or group of transducers or the
.atd or .csv ‘AutoLog’ files extracted from the transducers. For a complete description of this application see Chapter 6.
