4.2.7 RUN WINDOW’S TRANSDUCER FIRMWARE UPDATE FUNCTION

The Configure│Update Firmware menu item opens the following window:

Figure 4.51

The window has a frame labeled Apply to: that allows the user to update firmware in only the selected transducer, or in all transducers
assigned to the Run window. If the Level Scout is locked a warning window will open.

Normally, select OK and then use the Run window’s Configure menu to Unlock the transducer before selecting the Upgrade Firmware
function again. However, the Cancel button puts the window into a special EMERGENCY UPGRADE mode described below.

If the latest firmware update (.hex) file is not yet available on the PC, it can be obtained from the YSI web site before proceeding
(

www.ysi.com

). Save the update file to the path C:\YSI\DSAdv\Firmware.

The first step is to select a firmware (.hex) file to download to the Level Scout. Click the Browse button, or double-click the light green
Filename text box to open a dialog window, to choose a file from the default subfolder (or navigate to the folder where the file is
located).

The user can download this file to all Level Scout on the Site Network in one session (one at a time) by clicking the All Xducers choice
in the Apply to: frame. This feature is not any faster than updating each transducer separately, but the process can continue
unattended.

Click the Update button to download the selected .hex file to the selected transducer(s). During this time, the light orange and light
yellow
status boxes at the bottom of the window show part of the hex data lines being transmitted and the one character responses
returned by the transducer’s bootstrap loader. Other line counts and a progress bar also show relative progress.

After the transducer(s) have completed the firmware upgrade procedure successfully and the (last) transducer has had time to reset,
the following dialog appears to notify the user to reset the clock in that transducer to match the PC’s date/time.

After selecting OK on the warning notice, select the Exit button on the Upgrade Firmware window to close it, and return to the Run
window. Next, click the Other button in the Run window’s AutoLog frame. This will open the Other configuration window. The
