Remote Control

Remote Control Ports
The FOX DA8 Plus has two ports that can be connected to a host device such as a computer
running the Extron DataViewer utility or the HyperTerminal utility, an RS-232 capable PDA, or
a control system. These ports make remote control of the DA possible. The ports are:

The rear panel RS-232 port — This is a 3-pole captive screw connector (
on
page 6). The protocol for this port is as follows:
•
9600 baud
•
no parity
•
8 data bits
•
1 stop bit
•
no flow control
•
The front panel Config(uration) port — This is a mini USB B port and requires the
DataViewer utility (version 2.0 or newer).
NOTE: Before you use the USB port for the first time, you need to install and
activate the USB driver on your computer. The simplest way to do this is to
install version 1.5 or newer of the FOX Extenders Program and then run the
