Descaling
Yourappliancehasanautomaticdescaling
programme.WhentheNiconlightsup,
runthedescalingprogrammeassoonas
possible.Ifthedescalingprogrammeisnot
runasinstructed,theappliancemaybe
damaged.
Tip: Withveryhard,calciferouswater,
pleasedescaletheappliancemoreoften
thantheNsymbolisdisplayed.Even
ilteredwatercontainslowamountsof
calciumcarbonate.
 ► Turntheapplianceoffwiththe on/off
switch.
 ► Pressandholdthe start/stopbutton.
 ► Turntheappliancebackonwiththe on/
offswitch.
 ► Releasethe start/stopbuttonassoon
astheNsymbollightsup.

Running the descaling programme
 ► Removethewatertank,pouroutany
remainingwater,andreinsertit.
 ► Preparethedescalingsolutionaccord-
ingtothemanufacturer’sinstructions
andpouritintothewatertankuptothe
calcmark.Adescalingagentapproved
especiallyforthismachineisavailable
fromBoschCustomerService(Article
No.310967)orfromspecialtyretailers.
 ► Placeacontainerholdingatleast500ml
underthewateroutlet.Thecontainer
mustitthecupstandexactlyandmust
remaininplace.Setthecupstandtothe
lowestposition.
 ► Pressandholdthe start/stopbuttonfor
atleast10secondstostartthedescaling
programme.
 ► Thedescalingprogrammewillnow
runautomatically.TheNiconlashes
whiletheprogrammeisrunning.(The
programmerunsforapprox.10minutes).
Thedescalingsolutionispumped
throughtheapplianceinmultiplephases
andthenrunsintothecontaineruntil
thewatertankisalmostempty.Asmall
amountofsolutionisalwaysleftinthe
tank.
 ► Whenthemostrecentlyselected
temperatureiconlightsup,thedescaling
programhasinished.
 ► Rinsethewatertankthoroughlyandill
uptothe maxmarkwithfreshwater.
 ► Nowselectanddrawwarmwaterthree
timestorinseouttheappliance.Donot
drinkthiswater!
Important: Donotinterruptthedescaling
processunderanycircumstances.Ifthe
programmeisinterruptedbecauseof,for
example,toolittlewaterorapowerfailure,
itmustberestarted.
