GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Through the use of integrated cascade technol-

ogy, the LEPS5002 High Voltage Power Supply

is designed to operate with MicroPak

TM

rack

mounted control systems to generate up to neg-

ative 100,000 Volts DC. The five high voltage

outputs of the LEPS5002 provide electrostatic

spray applicators with up to a maximum of 1000

microamps current at the maximum voltage of

100kV. This heavy duty source of high voltage

provides for rugged, reliable operation in a vari-

ety of industrial finishing applications.

The LEPS5002 Power Supply is similar in func-

tion to the single output, dry dielectric model,

part number 74793, with the exception that the

circuits are immersed in oil. This design pro-

vides five outputs instead of only one, therefore

eliminating the need for a separate junction

tank.

The MicroPak Control unit continuously moni-

tors the actual high voltage and current outputs,

regulates voltage and performs safety diagnos-

tics. A low voltage control cable connects the

control unit to the LEPS5002 Power Supply.

The control unit can be operated from front pan-

el adjustments or from an external PLC.

For information regarding the specifications,

installation and operation of the MicroPak Con-

trol unit, please refer to the appropriate service

manuals or contact your authorized Ransburg

representative. Also refer to the MicroPak man-

ual for troubleshooting information.

All components of this power supply were se-

lected for reliable, heavy duty service. The com-

ponents, including the high voltage transformer,

operate immersed in high quality (non-pcb) di-

electric oil to insulate against corona discharge

and provide excellent heat dissipation of the

internal circuit.

The LEPS5002 is Factory Mutual approved for

rotary atomizers when used in a

system that includes:

• MicroPak Power Supply Control Unit

• SSW-1064, Unshielded Type High Voltage

Cable

• LKIT0003, High Voltage Connection Kit

• LEPS5000-05, Junction Tank

• 17256-11 (or -12), High Voltage Transfer

Switch (Turbodisk 33 only)

The LEPS5002 is also Factory Mutual approved

automatic

guns when used in a system that includes:

• MicroPak Power Supply Control Unit

• 70393, REA III Automatic Guns

• LEPS5000-04, Resistive Junction Tank

>

The total number of applicators that

can be connected to one power supply

is determined by the total power output

required for the application. It is recom-

mended that the maximum continuous

output current from the LEPS5002 Power

Supply not exceed 800 microamps.
