LOSSARY

BD_ADDR Unique number that is assigned to and identifies a Bluetooth device.

Bluetooth A short-range wireless technology specification designed to transmit voice and
data from one device to another without the use of cables.

Bluetooth address The BD_ADDR of a Bluetooth device.

configuring tests Specifying the Bluetooth addresses for DUTs and specifying the tests to
run on those DUTs.

CSL CATC Scripting Language: Developed by CATC, it is used to write BPT test scripts
and is integrated into a number of CATC products.

device A Bluetooth hardware product.

DUT Device Under Test: The particular Bluetooth device that the operator has selected to
be the device tested. It is the device on which specified test scripts will be run.

executing the test Process by which an operator starts the running of a test or set of tests
on one or more devices under test.

host computer The computer that is running the BPT software and is connected to the BPT
hardware.

inquiry Process by which the BPT detects Bluetooth devices within its range and loads
their BD_ADDRs into the BPT user interface.

log file A printable, text-based file that contains information about the BPT’s activities.
Information about all tests that are run by the BPT are recorded in the log file.

operator A person who performs the procedure of executing tests.
