MAINTENANCE

BLADE BRAKE CLUTCH CABLE ADJUSTMENT

It is recommended that the adjustment of the Blade Brake
Clutch (BBC) cable is checked at the minimum every 50 Hours
or within each 4 weeks of operation. If not properly adjusted
the brake might not work as designed. This adjustment
pertains to a belt that has been used a minimum of 2 hours.

Removing the belt guard.
1. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire
where it cannot come in contact with the spark plug.
2. Remove the three screws for the plastic belt guard.

Check the adjustment of the spring tension.
1. Without any tension on the spring it measures
approximately 2” (51 mm) per below illustration.

2. Without starting the engine engage the BBC as described
on page 10.

3. Measure the stretched out length of the spring. It should
measure between 2 5/16” (58 mm) to 2 7/16” (62 mm). If
necessary please adjust the cable by loosening the nuts (1).

Approx.

2 inches (51 mm)

4. After making any cable adjustment tighten the nuts and
replace the belt guard.

5. Start the engine and verify the BBC function according to
the procedures on page 10.

BBC engaged - length approx.

2 5/16” to 2 7/16” (58 - 62 mm)

BLADE BRAKE CLUTCH - ALERT SPRING

The mower is equipped with a spring device that can alert the
operator of a malfunction of the spring that engages the blade
brake. The spring, 201339-5, will normally apply the pres-
sure to the blade brake system when the operator releases
the upper control bar/operator’s presence control at the upper
handle. In the event of a malfunction of the spring (201339-5)
the lawn mower blade might not stop completely. Therefore
always follow all the instructions and perform the BBC Function
Test as described on Page 10 before each use.

The alert spring system (1) on the Bravo 25 can alert the
operator if the spring 201339-5 malfunctions (breaks).

A fl at spring (1) - bright red - is located under the mower deck.
It is attached to one of the screws for the spindle.

The alert spring is pulled away from the blade of the mower by
means of the wire hook (2) that is attached to the Blade Brake
Spring 201339-5. The wire hook is visible on the right side of
the engine.

If the spring 201339-5 breaks the alert spring (1) will move into
the path of the blade and create a loud and unusual noise. If
noticed, immediately STOP the operation of the mower and
contact Ybravo.com for service advice.
