4 Maintenance

4.1 Cavity Life

The life expectancy of the cavity depends on the time and temperature of operation. The higher
the temperature, the shorter the life span. At temperatures near the upper end of the range,

the life expectancy is shortened by approximately 50%. We recommend an occasional visual
check be made to insure maximum system integrity. Although the cavity/heater assembly is
replaceable, it is recommended that LumaSense performs this work in order to maintain
radiance calibration integrity. The cavity assembly LumaSense PN is 12523.

4.2 Safety Interlocks

Automatic shutdown will occur if the region near the cavity exceeds ~220 °C. Reset must be
made manually when over-temperature causes a shut down. The cooling fans will operate only
when the internal temperature is above 40 °C (104 °F).

4.3 Periodic Inspections

Check periodically and upon every start up the following items:

1. Unusual cracks or chipping in or around the cavity.
2. Unusual noises when applying power.

4.4 Fuse Locations

The M300 has several fuses. Refer to the table and photo below.
