Packing Nut Adjustments for Chemical
Valves

Examine the packing nut on all chemical valves for
proper tension every 200 hours. When turning the
knob, there should be a small amount of resistance. If
not, slightly tighten the packing nut. DO NOT over
tighten. Keeping the valve packings properly adjusted
will eliminate possible leakage from the valve stem and
add to overall valve life.

Pressure Regulator

The pressure regulator serves to maintain water
pressure at a preset point and to bypass water back to
the water box.

To adjust:

1. With your unit running, close the cleaning tool

valve. Check the pressure gauge. Open the tool
valve. We recommend setting the pressure regula-
tor so that the pressure gauge reads 450 PSI with
the tool valve open.

When the tool valve is opened, there is an approxi-
mate drop of 50 PSI in pressure. If there is a pres-
sure drop greater than 100 PSI, it may be
necessary to lubricate the o-ring in the pressure
regulator.

2. If the pressure regulator requires adjustment,

loosen the locking nut, then turn the adjusting body
(cap) (while observing the pressure gauge on the
control panel) until the desired pressure is
obtained. Retighten the locking nut.

DO NOT loosen the adjusting body (cap) all the way
(counterclockwise) or remove it while the unit is
running.

We recommend that you lubricate the pressure
regulator o-ring every 50 hours, or whenever required.
If you do not, the stem may become seized due to inad-
equate lubrication. If this occurs:

a. Shutdown the unit.
b. Relieve all pressure from the water system.
c. Remove the cap from the pressure regulator and

remove the stem with long nose pliers.

d. Clean and lubricate stem.
e. Reassemble pressure regulator.
