8 FAQ

8.1

What should I do if the configuration comparison result for a PE is Different Config?
This result indicates that the L2VPN configuration maintained in IMC for a PE is different
than the L2VPN configuration on the PE. If the configuration on the PE is trustworthy, you
can use the auto discovery function of the L2VPN Manager to update IMC with the
configuration on the PE. If the L2VPN configuration on the PE has errors, log in to the PE to
restore the configuration.

8.2

Why does the batch process not deal with all selected objects?
Due to server performance capability it times out during the batch process. Therefore it will
not deal with the rest after that. If this case happens please contact H3C technician to adjust
system parameters.

8.3

Why does the system prompt Telnet failure when I import a device?
Check the following to resolve:

Can MVM communicate with the device normally?

Are Telnet parameters on the platform consistent with those configured on the device?
You can query or modify the parameters through detailed information of the devices
on the platform.

8.4

Why does the system prompt PE synchronization failure in global topology or access
topology?
Check the following to resolve:

Can MVM communicate with the device normally?

Are Telnet parameters on the platform consistent with those configured on the device?
You can query or modify the parameters through detailed information of the devices
on the platform.

Does MVM support the device version? For details, refer to the version description.

8.5

In an MCE networking scheme, why can PE-MCE links not be discovered during the
auto-discovery process?
Check the following to resolve:

Is the MCE device correctly configured? For example, is an interface of PE associated
with VRF.

Is the MCE imported correctly?

Are more than two interfaces of MCE associated with the same VRF and is the IP address
of one interface the same subnet as one of the PEs?

8.6

Why can't VPNs existing on the network be discovered during the auto-discovery process?

The auto-discovered PEs do not synchronize the latest VRF configurations of the device.

Only one PE-CE link belonging to this VPN exists on a VPN network.

The RT value of the VPN is the same as that of the existing VPN.

8.7

How do I add a VPN link in the global or access topology?
In global technology, right-click the PE device to select Auto Discovery.

8.8

How does importing or removal of some HoPEs affect the other HoPEs in a VPN network?
If the imported PEs are not hierarchial, they existing in the VPN as common PEs. Otherwise,
the system automatically recognizes PE roles. This rule also applies to the removal of PEs.
