1 Introduction
NonStop Storage Analyzer (NSA or SA) is a plug-in to Web ViewPoint. NonStop Storage Analyzer is a
powerful and feature rich tool for the management, analysis and monitoring of Disks & Files on hp NonStop
Servers. This document explains how to use NonStop Storage Analyzer. The first section provides an
overview of the product which includes its architecture, functional description, and UI components. The
following section explains installation including the requirements, licensing, and configuration. Subsequent
sections provide the details on the administrative and user functions.
1-1 Product Overview
NonStop Storage Analyzer is an intelligent and automated software tool to assist the NonStop
management staff with the analysis and management of disk storage. .
NSA creates an archive of historical data to feed a powerful analysis engine and GUI for managing
files & disks. The alert features can be used as an early warning system for areas that need
attention and the new NSA generated data assets can be used to improve and/or achieve SLA
goals.
NSA provides functionality to automatically scan the entire system and snapshots the details on all
existing disks and files. Information is organized into numerous meaningful and useful GUI views
and reports of both physical and logical disk storage. Numerous drilldown features allows the user
to get to the important details quickly and easily. NSA screens automatically highlight areas that
may need attention and provides access to the detail with a few clicks of a mouse.
Based on particular user defined thresholds, NSA is also capable of generating alerts via EMS
events for undesired conditions. Web ViewPoint’s notification feature allows the user to forward the
NSA alert to a variety of destinations including email and SMS.
NSA is basically a powerful watchdog and analytical tool to proactively manage your NonStop disk
storage.
Product feature highlights:
 GUI and Admin: Product provides a browser-based GUI for all user and admin functions.
 Disk and File Tracking: The product tracks usage on physical and virtual disks as well as file.
 History, Trends and Drilldown: Storage usage summaries are stored by Day for easy selection to
perform analysis, trending and reporting. Links are maintained that allow the user to drilldown to
the actual detail.
 Alert Notifications: The product supports the definition and configuration of particular threshold
values that will trigger specific EMS events for Web Viewpoint alert notification. Alerts can be
used as early warning trigger on disk or file usage levels and/or undesired changes in the
configuration (e.g. file security, licensing, etc.).
