4-7 Disk Trending

This section explains how disks (both physical and logical) on the current node can be plotted
against various

disk attributes

, either individually or side by side with other disks.

4-7-1 Overview

The various attributes of disk(s), collected over a period of time can be can be graphed to analyze
the growth or usage trend. If more than one disk is selected, then the user can compare the growth
trend by looking at the charts.

4-7-2 Description

Clicking on the trend icon when the Central Display displays information for all disks brings up a
window which enables the user to trend disks for a specified time period based on a disk attribute.

By default, the last 7 days of available data for the “90% Count” attribute is displayed when the trend
is charted for specified disk(s).

The trend icon is visible during the display of all the three tabs i.e. Utilization, Volumes and Physical.

The Disk Trending window lets the user select up to 25 disks to trend for a period of time. Users
can select between a 7or 30 day time period to which to trend the graph. Users can also select at
which date to start the trending from. If the specified date is earlier than the first available date in the
database, the charting will start from that first available date. When “Chart” button is clicked, a table
displaying the selected disks and selected attribute values for each date is shown and a graph is
generated based on that. Users can also navigate through the days using the “Prev/Next” buttons.
Trend graphs may have missing days if collection data not available (e.g. SA Collector was not run
on that day).
