Configuring a Backup Host System

a. Load the backup tape you made from the primary host.

b. Restore the backed up files:

> RESTORE/OUT $S.#LOG/ $tapedrive-name,*.*.*, open,
audited, listall, nounload

Because you are not restoring the SQL catalog tables, you receive errors.

c.

Check the out file for errors other than SQL catalog tables not being restored.

7. Restart the backup host system. See Step 4.

8. Bring up the network.

If your modified network startup files have not run, run them. Check that the
TCP/IP subsystem and any Expand lines have successfully started.

9. Restart the DSM/SCM environment.

a. Start TMF.

b. Change the volume to $DSMSCM.ZDSMSCM.

c.

Run IPM6031.

d. Run STARTSCM. For more information, refer to

Starting and Stopping

DSM/SCM

on page 2-2.

e. Connect a workstation to be used for the Planner Interface. This workstation

should have DSM/SCM settings identical to the workstation for the original
primary host system.

f.

Start the Planner Interface to ensure that it starts up and displays the
DSM/SCM environment correctly.

10. Synchronize the host and target databases by performing Verify Database on the

new (formerly backup) host system:

a. Change the volume to $DSMSCM.ZDSMSCM.

b. Start the ZPHITI:

> RUN ZPHITI

on page 2-11.

c.

Perform Verify Database on the backup host.

d. Create an independent snapshot to update the host database.

e. Repeat Steps a through d for each target system this host manages.

11. Build a new software revision for the target systems.
