2.2 Installation of the Server
The installation process of the Silo 9710 Media Manager consists of installing the
software, transferring files and configuring the tape drives and device to communicate
with the selected host. The tape drives can be configured with any K-series or S-
series System. The maximum number of tape drives that can be configured using Silo
9710 Media Manager is 10.
2.3 Installing the Software
Place the Silo 9710 Media Manager CD into the CD-ROM drive on the PC
workstation. The software will automatically load. If it does not automatically load,
click on the “My Computer” icon on the desktop, and then click on the SMM CD
icon. When this opens, click on “setup”. When the installation of the software is
complete, click on the “SMM shortcut” icon on the PC workstation desktop (Figure
2-1).
