3.2 Overview of the Client
The client software is installed on a second Tandem system designed to communicate
with the server Tandem system, which is the host to the silo device. The server
controls the robot on the silo. The client sends its requests to the server, and the server
then sends the request to the silo. The client can only communicate with the silo
through the server.
3.3 Installation of the Client
Note: The Server must be installed before installing the Client!
The installation process of the Silo 9710 Media Manager consists of installing the
software, transferring files and configuring the tape drives to communicate with the
selected host. The tape drives can be configured with any K1000 or S7000. The
maximum number of tape drives that the Silo 9710 Media Manager can configure is
10.
