NOTE:

For Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Availability Group configuration:

You can not create virtual copy on all the replica sites at once. You can create virtual
copies on the replica sites only one at a time.

You can not create virtual copies of the secondary replica databases which are not set
for read mode. They will not be displayed in the RM GUI. They will also not be a part of
instance level virtual copies. However, you can create virtual copies from the primary site
by selecting the secondary replica site from HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for SQL GUI or
HP 3PAR Recovery Manager for SQL CLI.

NOTE:

Under Virtual Copy Management node, Database will have Availability Group icon

if it contains even one virtual copy that was created when database was of Availability Group
type.

Creating Remote Virtual Copies

How Remote Virtual Copy Works

When you create remote virtual copies, Recovery Manager uses HP 3PAR Remote Copy Software
to send virtual copies to the Remote Copy backup server. The Remote Copy backup server is a
remote server, that is the Recovery Manager backup server.

To use remote virtual copy functionality:

The HP 3PAR Remote Copy Software license must be installed.

Remote Copy volume groups must be configured.

Both the Remote Copy primary server and Remote Copy backup server must be running the
same version of Recovery Manager.

For more information, see

“Remote Copy for Recovery Manager” (page 89)

.
