Automating Tasks

You can use the Task Scheduler to schedule Recovery Manager to automatically create virtual
copies, remote virtual copies, and one-click backup.

You can use Task Manager to manage all your scheduled virtual copies and backups for all
Recovery Manager products running on your servers.

You can schedule tasks using schtasks.exe or Windows Task Scheduler API.

NOTE:

The GUI remains the same regardless of the method you use to schedule a task. If you

are using a Japanese OS, use the default option of Windows Task Scheduler API to schedule tasks.
The schtasks.exe option is not supported.

To change the option of scheduling tasks with schtasks.exe or Windows Task Scheduler API
for a non-Japanese OS:
1.

Close Recovery Manager GUI.

2.

Go to User

→Username. For example, if you have logged in as ABC\Administrator, go to

C:\Users\Administrator.ABC.

3.

Open vcdbaConsole.properties file in Notepad.

4.

Change vcdba.taskManager.useWindowsApi parameter to false. The schtasks.exe
option is now activated for scheduling tasks. To use Windows Task Scheduler API, set the
parameter to true.

5.

Save and close the file.

6.

Start the Recovery Manager GUI.

NOTE:

You must activate the Recovery Manager GUI before changing the options for scheduling

tasks.
