should adhere to the data standards used by supported application. Selecting this option
ensures the data can be accessed with VM tools supporting these formats but may increase
the amount of data space and time required to create and access the virtual copy.

NOTE:

Application consistency is not supported on Exchange Databases that have been

configured using Physical Compatibility RDM LUNs. Application consistency is supported for
datastore virtual copy creation and you have the option to select a VM to reside on the
datastore.

Click OK. The virtual copy creation task is submitted and started.

Information regarding the virtual copy creation process is shown under Recent Tasks in lower
portion of the screen. Once the virtual copy has been created, an entry is reflected in the
Virtual Copy Set list.

NOTE:

When working with virtual copies, you may need to refresh the display in order to

view the most accurate volume details. See

“Refreshing Virtual Volume Information” (page 54)

Mounting Virtual Copies

To mount a virtual copy:
1.

Follow the instructions in

“Viewing Virtual Copy Information” (page 60)

.

2.

Click the Virtual Copies tab.

3.

Select the virtual copy you wish to mount from the Virtual Copy Set list.

4.

Right-click the virtual copy in the virtual copy table.

A menu appears providing two mount choices:

Mount on ESX host as Datastore on - Select from a list of ESX/ESX(i) hosts managed by
the vCenter Server that share access to the HP 3PAR Storage System.

Mount on Proxy Host - Select from a list of hosts not managed by the vCenter Server, but
which have access to the HP 3PAR Storage System.

NOTE:

For ESX 3.5, the LVM.EnableResignature parameter must be set to “1” to allow mount

operations. The parameter can be found in the ESX host Configuration, Advanced Settings,
and LVM options.
