Installing a Windows OS

1.

Create a logical volume for the driver using ORCA.

2.

Mount the Windows OS to a drive or by using iLO.

3.

Connect the USB device containing the drivers to the USB connectors on the node.

4.

Boot the OS from the ISO.

5.

Once the OS boots, the Install Windows screen is displayed.

6.

Select the appropriate entry using the drop down box for each of the following:

o

Language

o

Time and currency format

o

Keyboard or input method

7.

Click Next.

8.

When prompted, click Install now.

9.

When the Select the operating system you want to install screen is displayed, select Windows Server

2008 R2 Enterprise (Full Installation).

10.

Click Next.

11.

When the Please read the license terms screen is installed, read the terms and then click the I accept the

license terms check box.

12.

Click Next.

13.

When the Which type of installation do you want screen is displayed, select Custom (advanced).

14.

To load the driver, click Driver options (advanced).

15.

Click Load Driver.

16.

When the Load Driver window is displayed, click Browse.

17.

Browse to the driver files on the USB drive, select the hpahcisr folder, and then click OK.

18.

When the Select the driver to be installed screen is displayed, select HP Smart Array B110i SATA RAID
Controller (c:\hpahcisr\hpahcisr.inf).

19.

Click Next.

20.

After the driver is installed, the logical drive is displayed in the installation screen. Select the logical
volume and click Apply.

21.

Create partitions as required and continue with the installation.

Creating a drivers diskette for Linux OS

1.

Mount the SmartStart 8.70 image on a client server with any Linux operating system. Click Agree to
accept the HP End User License Agreement.

2.

Select the Software tab and then click Create Driver Diskettes.

3.

In the Diskette builder for Linux screen, enter the corresponding number for the version of Linux from the
list provided (1-5).

4.

The next screen lists the available drivers for your version of Linux. Enter the number that corresponds to
hpahcisr, the controller driver.

5.

When prompted, enter the number for the preferred target device for the driver.
