A.19.2 set attribute
The
set attribute
command creates a system attribute and/or sets the value of the attribute. You can
only set the values of certain attributes.
In most cases, the new attribute or value does not come into effect until you configure servers or reconfigure
file systems. The
set attribute
command prints a message describing the action that is needed to bring
the new attribute or value into effect.
TIP:
The
set attribute
command is the same as the
create attribute
command.
Syntax
set attribute attribute_name=attribute_value
Arguments
attribute_name
Required. Specify the name and value of a new or existing attribute.
If the attribute value contains spaces, enclose the value in double quotes.
Example
The following example creates the
nickname
attribute and sets its value to
west
:
sfs> set attribute nickname=west

Table A-3 shows a list of the system attributes that can be changed. Note that some attributes can affect the
basic functionality and operation of the system. Before you change the value of an attribute, ensure that the
consequences of the change are understood. See the listed sections of the documentation for more
information on individual attributes.

bonding_options
This attribute is used to store values that are used in the operation of bonded
Gigabit Ethernet interconnects.
The attribute values are set in the
/etc/modprobe.conf
file on all servers.
The default attribute is:
mode=802.3ad
enable_collectl
This attribute is used to start the
collectl
utility. See Section 4.7 of this
document for more information.
enable_readcache
This attribute is used to enable/disable read cache on the servers. Refer to
Section 9.3 of the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation
and Upgrade Guide for more information.
enable_webserver
This attribute is used to enable the Web server that allows you to view the
performance metrics gathered by the
collectl
utility. See Section 4.7 (of
this guide) for more information.
lustre.groups_server
This attribute is used when configuring a group server for supplementary
groups support. Refer to Section 9.2 of the HP StorageWorks Scalable File
Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide for more information.
lustre.groups_user
This attribute is used when configuring a group server for supplementary
groups support. Refer to Section 9.2 of the HP StorageWorks Scalable File
Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide for more information.
lustre.groups_ssh_timeout
This attribute is used to set the timeout on an
ssh
request made to a group
server. The value is the number of seconds before the
ssh
request times out.
