Before using the Posey Bed 8060 for the first time, it’s important to check that the Posey Bed 8060
has been properly assembled, is in an appropriate area, and anyone who interacts with a patient in
the Posey Bed 8060 successfully completes training.
Use the following checklists before having a patient occupy the Posey Bed 8060:
• Check for Proper Bed Assembly
• Guidelines for Proper Bed Location
• Guidelines for Training
To confirm that the Posey Bed 8060 was properly assembled and delivered in good condition.
Biomedical Engineer or other authorized person.
Prior to use with a new patient, photocopy and retain this checklist to record that each item
has been verified.
NOTE: Each No (in table below) must be corrected before allowing a patient to use the Posey Bed
8060.
Before First Time Use
Check for Proper Bed Assembly
1. Is the canopy metal frame unbent and unbroken?
2. Is the A-frame securely attached to the hospital bed using the four
( 4) IV Post Mount Brackets or the two (2) Universal Bed Straps?
3. Does the bed feel secure and free from any loose or moving parts?
4. Is the metal canopy frame completely covered by foam padding and
no visible foam?
5. Is the canopy and netting clean and free from any tears, holes, or
abrasions? (Page 12)
6. Are all zippers fully closed with zipper pins completely seated in
their boxes and all teeth engaged? (Page 17)
7. Do the zippers close completely and open easily?
8. When pressure is applied along the entire length of the zipper, does
the zipper hold securely without gaps or openings? (Page 17)
