Posey Bed 8060



Purpose

Procedure

To safely get a new or existing patient into the Posey Bed 8060.

DO NOT use a patient lift unless already tested. This is to be sure there is enough room under the

canopy frame to transfer the patient safely without damaging the canopy (see page 23).

During patient care and when moving the patient into and out of the Posey Bed 8060, lock all

hospital bed casters.

NOTE: Additional persons may be needed for a safe transfer.

Moving the Patient Into the Bed

1. Prepare bed for patient.

NOTE: Raise bed for easy access.

2. Transfer the patient to the bed.

3. Complete the patient’s care plan as

needed.

4. Close access panels.

5. Complete “Quick-Check 10” (see page 29).

a. Make sure area around the bed is clear of any

tripping hazards.

b. Ensure the hospital bed casters are locked.

c. Put mattress in the flat position.

d. The caregiver must access the patient from

the open frame side.

e. Unclip the Quick-Release Buckle.

f. Unzip the side panel and secure with the

hook and loop tabs.

a. Speak gently and assure them the bed is for

their comfort and security.

b. Move them to a safe area on the mattress.

a. Attach any IV lines, drainage tubes,

monitoring lines as required. (Page 18)

b. Talk to patient to make sure they feel

comfortable and secure at all times.

a. Zip panels completely. Check that zipper is

closed securely along the entire length of the

zipper. (Page 14)

b. Close the Quick-Release Buckle and tug on

the clip to make sure it is connected. (Page 16)
